This workshop will be run by Kristine Mason O’Connor and Lindsey McEwen HEIs are increasingly committing to community engagement in Mission statements, signing up to the Manifesto for Public Engagement (NCCPE) and promoting community based learning as a means of enhancing the student experience. Yet Kristine’s and Lindsey’s recent literature review and survey reveal little institutional support or recognition for staff to undertake this work. The workshop will enable participants to share, learn and take back proposals for good practice to their institutions. The workshop will draw on SEDA Special 32 ‘Developing Community Engagement’ and their other recent work.The target audience is educational developers; staff with responsibility for community based learning; institutional leaders of educational policy.This workshop starts at 10am and will finish by 4pm. The price includes a copy of SEDA Special 32, lunch and refreshments.
