Description

Since the publication of Daniel Goleman’s book ‘Emotional intelligence: why it can matter more than IQ’ in 1995, there has been a growing interest in the part emotional intelligence plays in education. Much of this interest has focused on schoolchildren whilst little attention has been paid to its role and significance in HE. This special looks at the importance of emotional intelligence for staff working as lecturers in HE – how they can develop it and how they can use it.
