The Editorial Committee of Educational Developments is looking for a new member who also might be interested in taking over the role of Chair in Autumn 2024. The Editorial Committee is also the home of the SEDA Blog. Ideally the candidate would be someone who brings new elements to the group, whose members at present have a range of interests in managing or being part of units, running PGCerts and other courses, educational development consultancy and the application of new technology, with links to other agencies and associations in the HE world.
Educational Developments has been SEDA’s quarterly magazine since 2000; all the issues are available on the SEDA web site. The magazine works through four planning meetings a year at which proposals are made, ideas are discussed and articles are commissioned. There is a lot of email traffic as articles are followed up, read and edited. One or two of the group take responsibility for editing each issue, which involves dealing with any problems, determining the content, preparing the articles and running order for the copy editor, and reading the proofs after the issue is designed.
We are looking for someone with a broad knowledge of the ‘world’ of educational development and who is attuned to the readership and its interests. Since March 2020 the magazine has been distributed as an electronic PDF file. The Committee has been considering publishing the magazine through the SEDA web site, so experience in this area would be especially welcome.
If you wish to be engaged in publishing Educational Developments, we look forward to receiving your expression of interest and what you might bring to the roles, in an email (in no more than 500 words please) to email@example.com by the end of Monday 12th February. The next scheduled meeting of the committee will be on-line on the morning of 7th March.
