Caitríona is a highly experienced educational developer who is passionate about engendering positive inclusive learning environments that empower learners to shape their learning journey and flourish as individuals. 

As a learning and teaching in higher education specialist, Caitríona has been a Degree Awarding Powers [DAP] Panel Assessor/ Deputy Committee Chair for the UK Office for Students [OfS]. Previously she was a Designated Quality Board Assessor (Institutional Assessor and Subject Assessor) as part of panels undertaking Quality and Standards Reviews [QSR] for the UK Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education [QAA]. Most recently she has served on a panel for the New Provider Service offered by the QAA.

Caitríona has worked in the UK higher education sector for over 20 years in a diverse array of roles including lecturing in initial teacher education and facilitating educator CPD. This included working on PGCE programmes and on two different MA in Education programmes. She is an experienced higher education programme leader having managed an international subject specialist professional teaching certificate; a blended learning BA(Hons) degree and been an institutional Head of Learning and Teaching.

External expertise roles include being an external advisor on curriculum development initiatives, serving as the external learning and teaching specialist on validation panels, and she has been an External Examiner for degree programmes. As part of the UK Degree Standards Project, Caitríona undertook the Develop the Developer training and assessment to become a HEA/Advance HE Recognised Facilitator to deliver the Professional Development Course for External Examiners.

Staff and educational development experience includes pathway leadership on a HEA/ Advance HE accredited CPD programme for recognition at PSF Descriptors 1-3. She has been an invited external consultant co-facilitating PSF(2023) SFHEA workshops/mentoring and in 2024 was an external assessor on a PGCert in Higher Education programme with FHEA recognition. In 25/26 she continues to work on an Advance HE accredited institutional scheme as a D1-3 Assessor and/or Assessor Panel Chair.

Caitríona was delighted to take on the role of FSEDA Programme Leader after having previously served as the FSEDA Deputy Programme Leader for two cohort cycles.
