Mark Davies PFHEA FSEDA is Associate Professor and Faculty Head of Learning and Teaching at the University of South Wales. His work focuses on supporting colleagues to design effective, inclusive, and engaging learning experiences, and on strengthening the conditions in which good teaching and student learning can flourish. He leads a range of faculty-wide initiatives related to curriculum development, assessment enhancement, and the use of evidence to inform educational practice.
Mark has a particular interest in student voice and in creating feedback-rich environments that promote partnership, reflection, and continuous improvement. He has contributed to institutional projects exploring programme-level assessment, academic integrity, and approaches to evaluating the learning experience, working closely with academic and professional services teams to support high-quality teaching across diverse disciplines. Mark also has a strong interest in developmental peer observation and in fostering supportive, reflective spaces for professional dialogue about teaching.
Alongside his institutional role, Mark has extensive experience as an external examiner across health, social care, and education programmes, and has published on realist review methods, interprofessional learning, and pedagogic enhancement. He is committed to supporting colleagues’ professional development and has mentored staff through Advance HE Fellowship and SEDA recognition pathways.
Mark is pleased to join the SEDA Fellowship Committee and looks forward to contributing to the recognition and development of professional practice across the sector.
