Doing the Fellowship helped towards affirming my identity as an educational developer and helped me to see that I was becoming credible in this role“.

Who is the SEDA Fellowship for?

Fellowship of SEDA (FSEDA) is suitable for individuals who lead and contribute to change initiatives in academic development.

Academic development-based roles are held by individuals who work in several contexts, locally and internationally:

  • Faculties or departments
  • Learning and teaching development
  • Further and higher education
  • Adult education and training programmes

How do you achieve Fellowship of SEDA?

SEDA runs an annual cohort-based approach to FSEDA. In 2023 this will run from March to September. Throughout the six-month programme, FSEDA Candidates are supported in developing a portfolio of work which demonstrates alignment with the SEDA Values, Core Development Outcomes (CDOs) and Specialist Outcomes (SOs).

Candidates will engage with their cohort synchronously through participation in webinars and writing workshops and asynchronously through discussion boards. The programme is designed so that participants can benefit from each other’s reflections, feedback and support as their FSEDA applications progress.

Mentors will be assigned to each candidate, providing feedback and guidance throughout the programme.

The Fellowship Scheme Lead will provide a reflective space where candidates can appropriately respond to the SEDA Values, CDOs and SOs while appreciating the context within which they work.

The 2023 cohort will run from October 2023 to March 2024.
